Step by Step Tutorial to Enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer 11

Sometimes you may need to change disable or enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer if you want to run any specific application.

If any website or application is developed using JavaScript, then you need to enable the JavaScript feature in order to operate on them.

Steps to enable/disable JavaScript in IE:

  1. Click on the Tools menu on the top right corner of Internet Explorer and go to “Internet Options”.
    Or, press Alt + X → “Internet Options”.

  2. Under the Security tab, go to Custom level…

  3. Look for ScriptingActive Scripting section.

  4. Select Enable radio button to enable JavaScript for Internet Explorer
  5. Likewise, you can disable or select prompt if you want IE to prompt every time when you run any application whether to run it or block it.
  6. Click on OK to save the changes.

One point to note- if the option is disabled for you, that means you do not have the administrative privilege to make changes in the IE settings. This often happens in computers being managed by your organization from policy settings.

To enable or disable the JavaScript settings, launch Internet Explorer in Administrative mode and try. If the option is still disabled, you need to contact your system admin team to do it for you.
